Filmmaker: Anurag Kashyap also weighed in with a sharp, if indirect, critique of police behavior.For those unaware, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak escalated on Monday, as the march towards Parliament turned violent, injuring over 118 policemen, according to Delhi Police. Several protesters were also injured, with visuals capturing clashes between demonstrators and police in several locations across the capital.
Anurag Kashyap’s Instagram notes on police action
Taking to Instagram on Monday night, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap shared a note in Hindi. “Wardi pehenne ke liye aatma ka, aatmiyta ka, sabka sauda karna padta hai. Maloom nahi tha. Kya ek police wala hai is desh mein jo khada ho ke bol sake main iss Aadesh ka palan nahin karoonga kyonki ye galat hai (I didn’t know you should sell a policeman who has a police uniform and a conscience. say I will not follow this order because it is wrong).“Though Kashyap’s note did not directly mention the CJP or the protests, it was widely understood to be a reference to the police action that allegedly left several protesters injured on Monday.
Delhi Police, protesters gave conflicting versions
According to Delhi officials, protesters from the CJP displayed unruly, aggressive, and violent behavior during Monday’s demonstration in New Delhi. They allegedly ignored repeated warnings and legal directives from the police, refused to disperse and openly defied curfew orders. The protesters, on the other hand, alleged that the Delhi Police personnel indiscriminately targeted them, which also resulted in several injuries on their side.
The CJP delegation met JP Nadda with three demands
Separately on Monday, a delegation of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spoke to Union Health Minister JP Nadda about their demands, with the minister urging the protesters to call off their sit-in. CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said three demands were placed before Nadda, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of the NEET aspirants, “over 20 of whom lost their lives.” He further stated that activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is currently hospitalized, should be “released immediately”, adding that the protest will continue until Pradhan quits.
