The actress, who played Paramjit Kaur Khalra in the film, recalled the years of dedication that went into the project. He also expressed mixed emotions about the last glimpse of the film reaching audiences, even though its existence was short-lived.Posting on Instagram, Geetika opened up about the team’s long wait to bring the film in front of the audience. He acknowledged that while the film has finally been seen by some audiences, its journey still feels incomplete as it is no longer available in many places.He wrote, “For four years, we have carried this film quietly in our hearts, hoping for the day when we can share it with you. Today, that hope feels fulfilled and unfulfilled, as Satluj finds its voice in some areas while remaining silent in others (sic).
The actress talks about portraying Bibi Paramjit
Geetika also opened up about essaying the role of Bibi Paramjit, the wife of Jaswant Singh Khalra, portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh. He described the opportunity as a meaningful experience and expressed gratitude to be a part of the film.In his post, he praised the story and the family whose journey inspired the project. He wrote, “It is an honor to enter the world of Bibi Paramjit and to stand alongside @diljitdosanjh in telling the story of Jaswant Singh Khalra ji and the family whose love endures what words cannot fully describe.”The actress ended her message by acknowledging director Honey Trehan and her vision for the film.He added, “To praise @honeytrehan for his decision. The film faces a long road before release
Directed by Honey Trehan, ‘Satluj’ draws inspiration from the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film centers on the allegations surrounding the disappearance and illegal cremation of thousands of unidentified bodies during the militancy in Punjab in the 1980s and 1990s.The project encountered many obstacles before its release. During the certification process, reports say that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested several edits. It has also reportedly asked the makers to change the original title of the film. The matter later reached the Bombay High Court, where the certification process is ongoing.After years of uncertainty, ‘Satluj’ aired on ZEE5 on July 3. The movie was released with little publicity. However, it remained available for a short time before it disappeared from the platform.The streaming service later said that the film will remain unavailable in India until further notice. It also said that efforts are ongoing through due legal process to restore the film.Reports said the takedown followed directions issued on security concerns under the Information Technology Rules. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has also reportedly constituted a high-level committee to examine the film’s content. The decision drew reactions from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee as well as several Punjab-based political parties.
Diljit Dosanjh suggests scrapping the film
Before the film was shot, Diljit Dosanjh addressed the issue in an Instagram Live session. He revealed that he already knows that the film will not last long. The actor urged viewers who watched it to recommend it to others before it disappeared.Apart from Diljit Dosanjh and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, the film also features Kanwaljeet Singh, Arjun Rampal, and Suvinder Vicky in important roles. Harbhajan Singh recently shared his praise for the film.
