The already released thriller film, which revolves around the life of a deaf and mute assassin, has already created a lot of buzz online. With all eyes on his character, Qureshi shared that he hopes the film inspires more like it. While talking to PTI to promote the film, the actress took a deep dive into what it was like working on such a concept for her.He began by talking about the character, sharing that “The fact that he looks normal and yet is such a deadly killer is what makes this an interesting story… We just wanted to create a more relatable character. The kid is someone you know as a local in Mumbai and not an eyesore. I think there is a lot of change when it comes to writing better steps. There is definitely a part in the right direction.”She also opened up about the existing roles that women usually play in action and thriller sets, sharing how she feels that stars are often hypersexualized in such femme fatale characters. She added, “Women have to wear this tight-fitting, hyper sexualized kind of fantasy to be killers. I think it comes from the patriarchy. “Additionally, while talking about the film, she commented that, “I think when you think about people, especially women with disabilities, you almost think of it as a weakness; you almost think of them as a weakness.
How Huma Qureshi got the script for ‘Baby Do Die Do’
The actress also gave some insight into how she landed the role and what made her say yes to the script in the first place. He shared that he found the script almost 4 years ago, and from the beginning, he was determined to star in it. Giving more context, he mentioned that, “I decided that I wanted to act on it. When I couldn’t find a suitable producer, we decided to produce it under my production company called Saleem Siblings, and I liked the fact that it was pulpy, it was cool, it had a hit woman, and she was deaf and dumb, and she had a gun.“

‘Baby Do Die Do’ is directed by: Nachiket Samant and recently released on July 3. Apart from Huma Qureshi playing the lead role of the killer, Baby Karmarkar, the film has names like Sikandar Kher: as Zafar, Chunky Panday as PM Jain, Seema Pahwa as Anjum Khan and Rachit Singh as Siddhu.The actress talked about the film and stated that it is “quirky, it is a thriller, it is also a comedy and a musical as it has original composition and a very unique style.” He also praised Samant for his work and originality in the script, and shared that it translated very well on screen.
How did Huma Qureshi prepare for the role?
Since the main role is to portray a person who is deaf and dumb, Qureshi had to go through a lot of preparation for the film. He revealed that he has mastered sign language properly and even went and visited schools for children with special needs.“I have a coach who teaches me sign language. I also attend a school for children with special needs and … who cannot speak or hear…I learned a lot just by being with those children,” he said.On the work front, Qureshi will next appear in ‘Toxic’ with Yash. The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas and is slated to release on August 26. Initially, the film was supposed to release on March 19, which was later delayed to June 4.
