A young South African, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, has made his priorities clear. Despite being in the world’s top leagues, the 20-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman said he would give up any other form if it meant enjoying a long and successful Africa Test career.Currently representing the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket (MLC), Pretorius has been in sensational form. He recently smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 52 balls against MI New York, registering his maiden T20 century. The left is part of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, it started in 2025 before being reserved for the 2026 season. In the South African SA20 league, he became the top scorer for Paarl Royals during their successful 2024–2025 season, and also represented the Titans in domestic cricket.However, despite his rapid rise to cricket, Pretorius insists that Test cricket remains his biggest passion.“Hopefully, I have the chance to play more Test Cricket and get 10,000 Test runs because that is my dream. A background in his Test career
Pretorius has played just two Tests for South Africa, both against Zimbabwe in mid-2025, but he has already declared himself one of the game’s most talented youngsters. He has scored 235 runs in three innings at an average of 78.33, including a century and a half, with a career best of 153.His first essay was one of his essays. At the age of 19 years and 93 days, Pretorius smashed 153 off 160 balls in Bulawayo to become South Africa’s youngest Test centurion, breaking Graeme Pollock’s record of 61 years.The innings also saw him become the youngest player in Test history to score 150 on debut, surpassing Pakistan great Javed Miandad. His 150 came off just 157 runs, making it the fastest 150 by a South African in Test cricket.Adding another feather to his cap, Pretorius joined the list of players who have scored centuries in their first First Class and Test matches.
