New Delhi: International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) celebrated its 25th convocation ceremony on July 11, 2026, with a total of 526 undergraduate, postgraduate and research program students graduating. The ceremony marked another milestone in the evolution of the college, which began with its first commencement ceremony in 2002, when 49 students graduated from a campus of 496 students and 16 faculty members.Over the years, IIIT Hyderabad has grown into a research-focused academic institution with a student body of 2,524 students, 114 faculty members and an alumni community of over 8,200 graduates. The institute highlighted its growth in research, innovation and academic activities during the graduation ceremony.Students are recognized for their academic and overall achievementsMaddereddy Kritin, a B.Tech student majoring in Computer Science and Engineering, received the IIIT Hyderabad Gold Medal for her outstanding academic performance. Abhinav Digambar Raundhal, also from B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, received the best all-round award for his achievements in academics, extra-curricular activities and services to the college.Congratulating the graduates, Professor Sandeep Shukla, Director, IIIT, Hyderabad said that the graduation ceremony represents the completion of academic courses and the beginning of continued learning and contribution. He encouraged graduates to use their technical knowledge and skills to tackle meaningful challenges.Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Government of India and chief guest at the ceremony, congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their future careers.

Research, internships and academic developmentThis academic year, a total of 119 companies have registered for internships, and 59 of them have issued admission letters to students. The institute has also added five new permanent faculty members, and with contributions from part-time faculty and industry experts, the total number of faculty members reaches 114.Since 2025, IIIT Hyderabad researchers have produced 371 academic publications and IP results, including 22 patents, 265 conference papers, 101 journal articles, 4 book chapters and a book.The institute also receives support from more than 55 faculty-led sponsored research projects. Ten faculty members have received research awards and unrestricted grants from organizations including Adobe, Google, Qualcomm, and Amazon Development Center. Four postdoctoral fellowships were awarded through DST and ANRF, while 22 externally funded competitive PhDs were also awarded. Scholarships support doctoral scholars.Executive Education and Alumni SupportIIIT Hyderabad’s executive education program has trained over 4,500 professionals through blended learning formats in the past eight years. The institute has completed multiple batches of projects in artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain and distributed ledger technology, data science software engineering, and generative artificial intelligence and just-in-time engineering.The alumni network has grown to 8,242 graduates. Through its Alumni Fund, the college has supported more than 75 students through a rebate model, while corporate partners have also provided financial assistance to students. AT&T has committed Rs 72 crore to students admitted through the Special Admissions Channel (SPEC) since 2021, with ongoing support from CGI.
