India opener Pratika Rawal has also been ruled out of the one-Test series against England at Lord’s, which starts on Friday, after suffering a knee injury.Head coach Amol Muzumdar said Rawal suffered the injury while playing for India A against England A in Taunton earlier this month. He suffered a knee injury during India A’s second 50-over match, which required stitches.Priya Punia has been added to the team as Rawal’s replacement.“Pratika has been ruled out of the Test series due to an injury sustained in the India A match. She has a knee fracture which requires surgery. She is out for the Test match and Priya Punia has also been added,” Muzumdar said. This is Rawal’s second major injury in recent times. In last year’s Women’s ODI World Cup at home, she was forced to withdraw from the tournament after spraining her ankle. Rawal made his Test debut against Australia earlier this year. The upcoming matches will also be memorable, with Lord’s hosting a women’s test for the first time, 142 years after it held its first men’s test. The Test follows India’s exit from the recently concluded Women’s T20 World Cup. Muzumdar admitted that the campaign has been disappointing but said the team has made progress and is now more interested in the challenges of the red ball.“Honestly, it’s been a mixed bag. We had to recover. We were definitely disappointed. We didn’t have the best games at the World Cups. But having said that, the quality of the team has to come out and we have to come out of this phase and come to training as soon as possible.”“I think we’ve managed to do that. We had five days of good preparation at Wormsley Cricket Club, a beautiful stadium, a great place to prepare and then here at Lord’s. So I think the preparation has been good and as I said, I’m delighted to be here at Lord’s.”
