Veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty expressed support for the ongoing protest by students at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The actor shared a message on social media, urging the authorities to pay attention to the concerns raised by the youth.
Mammootty shared a message in support of the students
On Facebook, Mammootty opened up about the importance of the younger generation and called for their voices to be heard. He explained that the future of the country depends on empowering its youth.He wrote, “The youth are the real wealth of our country. Listen to their voices. Protect them. Empower them.”
Dulquer Salmaan and other Malayalam actors joined the movement
Mammootty is not the only Malayalam actor to speak out on the issue. Earlier, his son Dulquer Salmaan also expressed support for the students who participated in the protest.Many other prominent actors from the Malayalam film industry have also expressed solidarity with the movement. The list includes Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Kalidas Jayaram, Joju George, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Rima Kallingal and others.
Kamal Haasan called for reforms in education
Actor-politician Kamal Haasan also shared a detailed statement on the ongoing protest. He criticized the current education system and said that students’ concerns should have been addressed earlier.Kamal wrote, “We should have listened when a child cried. Instead, we waited until too many of our children died. The system where teaching replaces learning, anxiety replaces curiosity, and criminality replaces merit is rotten.
Kamal Haasan appealed to Sonam Wangchuk
Along with expressing solidarity with the students, Kamal Haasan also addressed social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was observing a fast. He appealed to Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, saying the country would continue to need his guidance in the future.He added, “@Wangchuk66, the nation needs your conscience for the journey ahead. Please end your fast. To the children of India: You are the best of us. You have done your duty. Now is the time for the nation to do its duty through you.
