Actor and: CM Vijayson of Jason Sanjay all set to come into the spotlight as a filmmaker with his directorial debut ‘Sigma’. While expectations are high for the film, the young director says his love for cinema didn’t start overnight. Growing up in a film family gave him many opportunities to visit shooting locations and watch films from around the world. Over time, his interest in storytelling, the structuring of a screenplay, and how ideas are conveyed through film direction grew. This growing interest eventually translated into a desire to make his own films.
Jason: Sanjay expressed his family’s support
Speaking about his decision to continue with Cinema Vikatan, Jason Sanjay revealed that his family’s support gave him the confidence to continue. “I told my parents, my sister, and my friends that I wanted to go into cinema. Everyone responded positively, and that became a great source of strength for me. Then I realized how much they believed in me. When ‘Sigma’ started, Vijay Sethupathi sir sorry: sir, and many others wish me well. A lot of people have blessed me, and that encouragement means a lot,” he said. He also recalls his time studying filmmaking in Canada. “While I was studying filmmaking in Canada, I wrote a 120-page script. I couldn’t make it into a feature then, so I made this 20-minute short film to understand what I could do as a director,” he added.
A script slowly becoming ‘Sigma’
Jason explained that the road to his first feature film was built through patience and learning. “After coming back to India, I worked on two or three story ideas. I shared one that I really liked with my friends and people from the industry. I changed the negative points they highlighted and added more positives. Through my uncle Sanjeev, I met the producer Tamil Kumaran, sir. I just wanted the experience of narrating a story to a producer, but he liked the script. Later, I met Subaskaran sir, and he also liked it. That’s how the story eventually became ‘Sigma,'” he said.
Jason Sanjay focuses on ‘Sigma’
Despite questions about whether he will act in the future, Jason says his immediate goal is to establish himself as a filmmaker. “I didn’t appear in the promo song because I want to be an actor. It was just to introduce the film and its theme. Right now, I have the responsibility to release ‘Sigma’ successfully, and that’s where my full focus is. After the release of the film, I’ll decide whether to act or continue directing. Every director has an actor in them, and I have one too. But everything depends on what happens after ‘Sigma.’ I also have two or three story ideas in my mind, and I will start working on them after the release of the film,” he said.
