New Delhi: Former Indian captain Kris Srikanth has criticized the management of the Indian team for sending KL Rahul in the 6th in the third ODI against England at Lord’s. India were chasing 388 but lost the match by 27 runs, losing the three-match series 2-1.Sharing his thoughts on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth questioned the idea of pushing Rahul to slow down the batting.“Can anyone send KL Rahul at No.6 when he is chasing such a big total? That guy has beaten you big time in tough matches,” Srikkanth said.“Is Rahul a No.6 or 7 batter? This is a huge injustice. His body also looked like a coward,” he said.Rahul came out to bat with India at 304/4, needing around 15 runs per over. The right-hander made 12 off eight balls before being dismissed by Jofra Archer.Srikkanth also compared Rahul’s attitude to strategy Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi were already taken care of.“Just like you messed with Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, now you’re messing with KL Rahul. India needed someone to fill Jos Buttler’s role (the white man hit 13-ball 41 in the first innings). That’s where Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer he came out immediately. But if Rahul had entered at No. 4, he would have supported Virat Kohli as he did several times in the 2023 World Cup,” said the 1983 World Cup winner.“Rahul can run easily. Instead, they sent him to bat after the match. How could he win the match needing 15 overs with Axar Patel?,” Srikkanth said.Rahul appeared in only two matches in the ODI series. He scored one run in the opening ODI and followed it up with 12 in the series selection at Lord’s.The ODI series defeat came after India lost 0-4 in the five-match T20I against England and lost 0-2 in the two-match T20I against Ireland.India will now travel to Zimbabwe for a three-match T20I. The first match will be played on July 23, followed by the second on July 25 and the third on July 26. All three matches will be held in Harare.
