Filmmaker-actor Pooja Bhatt recently shared an interesting story about his grandmother, Betty Bertha Bright. He described her as a strong woman with a funny, unique way of looking at things. In a recent conversation, Pooja: Talks about how his grandmother, who has Armenian and English or Irish roots, went through a tough time but still managed to stay funny and funny about it.
Pooja Bhatt to cut off her grandmother and bury her leg
On Cyrus Broacha’s podcast, Pooja described her grandmother as “tough as nails.” She shared that her grandmother was diagnosed with diabetes later in life, which ultimately led to her leg being amputated. After the operation, his grandmother insisted that there be a funeral for the amputated leg, and the whole family must attend the extraordinary ceremony.

The actress added, “We got to go to St. Andrew’s Church while he was there getting his leg buried. We were all like, ‘What is this? It’s a run-up to the last day.’ He actually watched everything and took notes. It’s black … absolutely black humor. He watched everyone’s expressions to see how they were behaving and who showed up and who didn’t. A lot of us looked at each other like, ‘What are we doing here?'”.
