Choreographer: Ahmed Khan directed his first film, ‘Lakeer. Forbidden Lines’, in 2004. It starred Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty: and: John Abraham. In an interview with News18, he said, “At that time, before Lakeer, I was writing a film called Sabr. The film was supposed to star him in a double role. AR Rahman also agreed to compose the music. It was a story of a grandfather and a grandson – when he was born, his grandfather was gone but he knew everything about him as he had heard stories about him when he was there.” in the womb.
Ahmed Khan remembers when Shah Rukh was set to launch two directorials
Shah Rukh is set to play a dual role in the film. That year, the superstar also planned to launch two choreographers as directors. Farah Khan and Ahmed himself. “When I told Shah Rukh about it, he said he wanted to do the film. I was in a hurry to make it. Shah Rukh launched two choreographers as directors under his production that year – Farah and me. At the time, it was called Dreamz Unlimited,” he recalled.
Ahmed Khan on why the film keeps getting delayed
The story immediately resonated with him. “Shah Rukh heard my script and he liked it. It was a serious film. So what happened next? “His commitment was to Farah first. Based on my understanding, my film will happen only after Farah. I can’t jump the queue. But his film continued to push. It was delayed for about two years because Shah Rukh had other commitments to fulfill, and making the film took a lot of time. I’m worried. I am ready to start my film. And then, finally, the Main Hoon Na went to the floors. It would easily take them a year or a half and a half to finish it. I can’t wait that long,” Ahmed said.
Ahmed Khan on Shah Rukh’s words that touched his heart
Although Shah Rukh asked Ahmed to continue, he could not, and he moved on to start working on Lakeer. “I remember talking to Shah Rukh and he told me, ‘Don’t go anywhere. Your first film should be with me.’ He spoke to me like an elder brother and his words touched my heart,” said the director of Baaghi 2 and Welcome To The Jungle. This situation, however, did not affect their relationship, but Ahmed chose not to return to that story. “I asked him if it was okay if I did my second film with him and he told me, ‘Tu hi ja raha hai.’ That’s where I drifted off and made a Laker. But that doesn’t really affect our equation. That film has never been made. This is only for Shah Rukh. But I know it’s not too late,” he said.
