‘Meet the new face of Gotham’, DC Studios has released the highly anticipated trailer for their new horror thriller, ‘Clayface’, starring Tom Rhys Harries.The film will see him star as the shape-shifting villain Clayface, whose real name is Matt Hagen. He started out as a struggling actor whose face was disfigured and then underwent a scientific transformation that made his body completely clay.The revelation comes ahead of this week’s Comic-Con, where the James Watkins-directed picture is expected to show off a lot of its merchandise.According to reports, the film of the famous Batman villain, falls between DC Studios’ two Matt Reeves-helmed Batman movies – 2022’s ‘The Batman’ and 2028’s ‘The Batman Part II’, both starring. Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. This comes after the successful launch of the HBO Max series ‘The Penguin’, which is set in the same universe.

The film revolves around “Matt Hagen’s meteoric rise from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man which is tragically cut short when the actions of a local crime boss leave him severely damaged. Abandoned by his team and with nothing left, Matt searches for a better treatment that miraculously returns him to his former self…

James Gunn introduces Tom Rhys Harries as ‘Clayface’
The announcement about the casting of Tom Rhys Harries was made by the head of DC Studios, James Gunn, who shared a post on social media, “After a long and incredibly exhaustive search, we finally have our DCU Clayface in @tomrhysharries. Both Matt Reeves and I are in awe of this man, and can’t wait for you to see this film by Mike Watna.”
Clayface in Batman comics
Clayface first appeared in a 1940 issue of “Detective Comics,” and many people have used the moniker to fight Batman in countless comics and many animated movies. He has appeared on live-action TV in episodes of “Gotham,” “Pennyworth” and “Birds of Prey,” plus animated movies like “Harley Quinn,” “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” “Young Justice,” “Batman: Caped Crusader” and more.
