New Delhi: Young Indian batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had a memorable day away from the cricket field as he attended the Wimbledon 2026 men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev at the prestigious All England Club in London on Sunday. The sinner won again Wimbledon title, beating Zverev 6-7 (7), 7-6 (2), 6-3, 6-4 in the end. The 15-year-old, who recently made his India debut, attended the match with another Indian player Abhishek Sharma. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was also present at the Center Court.Dressed in a black blazer, white shirt, striped tie and sunglasses, Sooryavanshi wowed fans with his new look. But he admitted that the preparation for the ceremony was done at the last minute.“Nahi kuch kiya nahi, koma jaldi jaldi mein bas jo mila mujhe mein maine Abhishek bhai se bolke fix karaya aur daal kar aaya hu. (I didn’t prepare anything; whatever I can get in the last minute, I asked Abhishek and he prepared it for me, and so, I just loaned him Sharkvama) he and the dress.

Nadal, Djokovic inspired him, but he supported the Sinner

Sooryavanshi revealed that he has been following tennis for several years and grew up watching two of the biggest legends of the sport.“I have been following tennis for four or five years now. I followed Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic when I was growing up. Abhi bhi Djokovic bohot pasand hai (Even now, I love Djokovic a lot),” the youngster admitted.He also shared his favorite Carlos Alcaraz but predicted that Jannik Sinner will lift the Wimbledon trophy.“I really like Carlos Alcaraz among the current tennis players, but he is not playing this year. As I followed the race, I was impressed by how Jannik Sinner dominated. So I hope he wins the final today,” he added.

The first Grand Slam event

Watching Wimbledon live for the first time was an unforgettable experience for the young cricketer.“Of course, I wanted to watch the finals. It’s my first time watching live, and it’s been good to see how the players are getting closer to the finals,” said Sooryavanshi while talking to JioStar.When asked who he would choose as his tennis doubles partner, Sooryavanshi chose his Indian opening partner.“I will go with Abhishek bhaiya. He is my opening partner in international cricket. I love to fight with him a lot, so I will choose him as my doubles tennis partner,” he said.Sooryavanshi was already in the United Kingdom after making his debut for India in the recently concluded T20I series against England. At the age of 15 years and 99 days, he became India’s first wicket-taker in the world, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record.India lost the five-match T20I Series 0-4 against England.
