Shabana Azmi falls ill, suffers dizziness during Jantar Mantar protests, viral video shows her safely escorted to security cabin - WATCH

Veteran actor: Shabana Azmi Reportedly fell ill during a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Monday while participating in a demonstration in support of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The incident happened a day after the actor visited the protest site to express solidarity with the ongoing unrest.A video from the venue surfaced on social media, showing the 75-year-old actor appearing weak and partially conscious. In the footage, several people are seen supporting him by holding his hands and escorting him through the crowd. The protesting students could be heard asking the security personnel to open a gate so that Shabana could be taken to a safer place. After informing the guards about his condition and identity, they were allowed to pass. The actor was then taken to a security cabin, where he was helped to a chair. The cause of his sudden illness is yet to be confirmed.Shabana first reached Jantar Mantar on Sunday, where she met CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and others who participated in the hunger strike. Videos from his visit also gained a lot of attention online. Earlier in the day, before her health scare, Shabana spoke to PTI about the purpose of the protest. He said, “We are here to hold a peaceful protest. This is a right guaranteed by our Constitution. Mahatma Gandhi taught us the path of non-violence. We have no intention of resorting to violence.” The veteran actor also appealed to the media to focus on the main issues rather than the presence or absence of artists in the protest. “You are only concerned about the fact that Bollywood artists are not present in March. You don’t have to worry about losing industrialists, all entrepreneurs. When you ask these questions, you are sidestepping reason and creating unnecessary controversy. You should support those marching for this cause, instead of diluting the matter,” he told the media.Shabana was among the many prominent personalities who extended support to the CJP-led event at Jantar Mantar. Actors: Swara BhaskarPrakash Raj and Poonam Panday also reportedly visited the protest site. Many other celebrities have expressed their support on the internet. Sonakshi Sinha recently shared a video related to Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike and urged her to put her health first.“Ab dekha nahi jaa raha… dil nahi maan raha… @wangchuksworld Sir… we cant lose you,” she wrote.Shabana had also earlier appealed to Wangchuk to end his fast, saying his presence and guidance remained vital for the students and he needed to stay healthy to keep the movement going.
