India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill added another memorable moment to his England tour when he received an invitation to watch the ongoing Wimbledon 2026 Championships from the Royal Box. With the call-up, Gill became only the fourth Indian cricket captain to receive the invitation, joining other players. Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Reserved for distinguished guests from sports, entertainment, politics and public life, the Royal Box is one of the most permanent areas of the All England Club and is recognized as one of the WimbledonThe highest social honor. Gill’s visit has also created a buzz on social media. A video showing a senior Indian in conversation with a tennis star Roger Federer has been on the rise, and fans are excited to see the two sports icons share a moment at the Championships.

The 26-year-old was also seen watching the action alongside Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar, adding another highlight to his Wimbledon appearance. Gill is currently in England with the Indian team ahead of the upcoming three ODI matches against England. Despite being busy with international events, he has managed to attend two of the biggest games in Britain during the tour. Earlier this week, Gill experienced his first Formula 1 race after attending the British Grand Prix at Silverstone as a VIP guest. The Indian driver enjoyed the opportunity to be seen throughout the race weekend, visiting museums, interacting with members of the Formula 1 team and seeing areas that are usually reserved for teams, drivers and special invitees. On the field, Gill has been heavily involved in international competitions. He remained unbeaten on 84 in the opening match before making a commanding 154 in the second match. In the third and final over, the opener let himself down as India sealed a nine-wicket win. India will now face England in the fifth and final T20I in Southampton on Saturday before changing their focus for the three-match ODI.
