Videos that went viral online showed Imran marching with protest students, where he interacted with demonstrators, took selfies and supported their cause. Speaking to Beetroot during the protest, Imran explained why he chose to participate. “I am here to show support and solidarity to all students, whose work has been affected.”Condemning the reported use of force against protesting students, he added, “This violence has absolutely no place in civil public discourse and the actions of the state in this particular instance speak volumes.
Condemned by Imran Khan police action: against the students
A day before attending the protest in Mumbai, Imran shared a powerful post on Instagram reacting to reports of police action against student protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. In a post, he wrote, “Something broke in me today. Watching as the police gassed and beat the protesting students… how can I understand this? These students who worked hard, were just failed by the system. These people who asked to be heard, were only met with silence. These citizens who have stood up to show what is important to them … have been beaten down and rejected by the establishment.”He further questioned the treatment of the protesters, writing, “Aren’t these the children of Mother India? If they are not, for whom are we building, and whose future do we claim to protect? Those who demand ‘organization’ from student protestors in education reform, but do not apply such high standards of accountability to established authority; bootlickers, one and all.”
Aamir Khan denies knowing Sonam
Aamir Khan was in the news recently after his appearance at the British Film Institute in London. During a Q&A with the audience, the actor was asked about the long-held belief that his iconic ‘3 Idiots’ character, Phunsukh Wangdu, was based on Ladakh-based innovator Wangchuk.In the viral clip, Aamir said, “No! That is not true, actually. That is the misconception.” He went on to explain, “I did not know Mr Sonam at that time when we were making the film ‘3 Idiots’. I know I saw a video of Chatur, recently, he said ‘No, he is wrong’. Maybe that’s what Chatur thinks, but I want to tell you that neither the director Rajkumar Hirani, nor the writer Abhijat Joshi, nor I … we know nothing about Mr. Sonam.““However, what Mr Sonam has done is a good job in any case.
