NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will have to work hard to find sponsors for the Indian team to complete the tour of England. TOI understands the assistant coach Ryan ten Dochate and a bowling alley coach Morne Morkel are considering stepping down after their contracts expire after the ODI series in England this month. “Doeschate is not sure if he will continue with the job. He has presented his problems in traveling with the team throughout the year. Morkel is still considering his options. The board is discussing the matter with the two coaches and will try to see if things can be done,” a BCCI source told TOI. The Indian team is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka for two Tests in the first week of August. Director of Cricket at the Center of Excellence (CoE) VVS Laxman he will take his CoE coaching team with him for India’s three-match T20I in Zimbabwe in the last week of July. Sources say Didchate may be in talks with the IPL franchise, while Morkel has not said anything. Head coach Gautam Gambhir appointed the two coaches when he took over in July 2024. The BCCI has always encouraged staff to come through its training program at the CoE. Last year, Abhishek Nayar he was replaced by Sitanshu Kotak as batting coach. If the situation is not resolved by Doeschate and Morkel, the BCCI will be forced to send Lakshmipathy Balaji, who was recently appointed as the running coach of the CoE, to Sri Lanka. The fielding coach is on fire TOI has also learned that cricketer T Dilip is under pressure to save his career. The organization is not happy with the decline in the team’s rankings. Dilip made a comeback last year after being fired along with Nayar.
